By now, you will know that we love the work of Pena Hughes-John and her project Lethia’s Natorium. We recently featured her singles, Lullaby and Inner Child, so we were very excited to hear that she had just released the brand new, Here We Go.
Opening with textures and atmospheric vocals singing, “Gather together on a Saturday night, queueing up for the theme park ride, forget the troubles of a 9 to 5, Here We Go….”, Pena opens the opus with intrigue and dimensionality.
The track expands with the guitar-driven soundscape that we have come to love from Lethia’s Natorium, as she sings the empowering chorus of the song.
Here We Go is the third release from the rising artist from London, designed with an uplifting message and infectious hook. We learn that the song was written after a day at a theme park, and conveys the excitement of being on one of the many high adrenaline rides. Pena tells us, “You’re never too old to enjoy the thrills of the theme parks!”
We appreciate the message greatly, and understand the depth of how this could also be a metaphor for connecting with the ups and downs of life. Pena confesses that “influences of the Siouxsie & the Banshees’ cover of the Beatles’ song Helter Skelter formed the backbone in terms of the tempo and mood of the song.”
Pena says with passion, “This had to be a guitar driven song that starts off quiet and then builds to a music excitement, similar to being on the very top of a rollercoaster waiting to go down the other end.”
Speaking on her recent performances, Pena tells us, “We had just made our debut at The Bedford River Festival playing on the Community Stage and have a couple of other smaller Festivals penned in the diary for the remainder of the year.”
We love Pena’s message and overall energy and have added Here We Go to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Lethia’s Natorium!
