Setting the tone with bold and glistening, cerebral textures expanding into a dimensional bassline, Purple Drip open their new single, Embrace all with intrigue and a celestial energy.
The opus expands with intricate percussion to deliver a hybrid soundscape with elements of downtempo and chillwave, fused with indie-electronica and progressive rock; and we are obsessed.
The overall sentiment is immersive, whilst electric guitar takes on the role of the main protagonist to truly send us astral as we listen in awe to the creation of the duo based in the Netherlands.
Fans of Moby, Royksopp, Efterklang, Tycho and Hybrid will definitely be able to connect with Embrace all, although it is clear that Purple Drip are creating a universe of their own.
We learn that Embrace all is meant to open the listener’s imagination and invite them into an exploration of self-expression. The duo tell us, “It’s about the artist’s sincerity in bringing out everything that’s trapped inside.”
This is from an intense period where one half of Purple Drip, Zorana, was rethinking her life and needed to face past burdens she was still carrying. The creation of this song is a reflection of the process by which she pulled herself from the depression, anger, grief, and self- sabotage she was putting on herself.
Becoming her own cheerleader, Zorana imagined her future self and what she would say if she saw her now. Her future self is happier and wiser and is able to send her positive affirmations to move on from that which was pulling her back. This image of a better self enabled her to create an outlet for new creativity and playfulness. To lift the veil of a heavy period of past trauma and look beyond it. This is why the song starts with uncertainty and emotional turmoil to later turns into a message of hope, light, and love.
The final act of the opus includes the powerful and mantra-esque lyrics, “Play around, free your soul, live in now, Embrace all, our time has come…”, which fits the sonic sentiment of the composition and the message that Zorana and her co-creator, Milan, wish to deliver.
We are in awe of Embrace all and have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from Purple Drip.
