Setting the tone with a a luscious 90s rock frequency, The Freight open their new single, Overrated with the situational lyrics, “I’ve been around here for some time, you warned me not to wake up my mind, and you told me not to fall, I didn’t listen at all…“, and we are hypnotized.
The opus expands into a melodic and immersive number which tells the story of a relationship that you want to make work. The Freight tell us it is when “you’ve put in the work, but is just ain’t happening, and when you discover this whole LOVE business is overrated.”
Coming from a place of frustration and impatience, the song serves as a cathartic way to disconnect from the emotions that might overwhelm you when a relationship isn’t exactly how you expect it to be. Sometimes, it is better to move on completely or simply trust the universe and compartmentalize your frustration energy, which is exactly what Overrated encourages us to do. Disconnect to reconnect.
Overrated is written by Adam Tiro (BMI) and Nicholas Asta (BMI) and engineered by Joe Clapp at Ultrasound Productions, and by Jeff Rosen at Cherrywood Records. Paul Santo is the mixing engineer, and the composition was mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, Nashville. We also love the cover art by Marc Loverin which perfectly depicts the emotion of the song.
We have added Overrated to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream The Freight‘s wider discography including Found and Show Me.
