It’s been a big year for Frank Bramble with the release of the emotional, Fall to Flames, the cerebral and innovative, Spaced Out and the high concept, high octane and inspiring, Serotonin, so we were very excited to listen to his latest release, Pain.
With emerging vocal details, a vinyl texture and crescendoing keys, Pain opens with the tortured lyrics, “Which way do you go when all you feel is pain? It’s hard to split the difference when there’s nothing left to say…”
Expanding into Frank Bramble‘s signature indie-hop soundscape, the rising artist from Birmingham in the United Kingdom addresses the pain of the betrayal of a friend.
He goes on to sings assertively , “I know I can live without…”, which lends itself to some optimism, but it is clear that Frank is still in his feels at the time of writing the song. The good thing about writing music is catharsis, and Pain does that for both listener and artist.
On the journey to the end of Pain, Frank taps into more personal emotions than we have experienced on his previous tracks, with the lyrical highlight, “You weren’t with me before and I can do it again it might make it hard, when I chill with my friends, and that’s a classification that you won’t see again“.
We learn that these lyrics talk about how Frank is willing to “cut off his nose to spite his face, believing that, that would cause him less pain, than holding onto this relationship.”
The authenticity that Frank shares with the opus is profound, and we appreciate the artist’s vulnerability and self-awareness. We have added Pain to our New Music Spotlight, whilst we stream Frank Bramble‘s wider discography.
