Setting the tone with a vibrant and immersive guitar-driven energy, Joshua Martin opens his new single, Quiero Tenerte Pa Mi with the romantic lyrics, “Para besar, yo te quiero aqui, nunca me abandones porque yo te quiero a ti…”, which translates as “I want you here to kiss, never leave me because I want you…”
The title of the track also translates as “I want to have you for me…”, which lends itself to the charming nature of the opus and the alignment of the soundscape and message. We learn that Quiero Tenerte Pa Mi pays homage to Joshua Martin‘s love for Spanish-Rock music from the 80s and early 90s. Joshua confesses, “It has a similar vibe to Cafe Tacuba and Aterciopelados.”
The composition was recorded in Riverside, California and is written and produced by Joshua Martin, and mixed by Roy Merchant. Quiero Tenerte Pa Mi is a song that Joshua Martin wrote for his spouse. It is a love song that asks the question, “Where would I be without you?”
We appreciate the sonic landscape that Joshua Martin has created with Quiero Tenerte Pa Mi, along with his message of love and human connection.
Joshua Martin is a one-man artist who writes his own music. Joshua uses a combination of real instruments, computer instruments, and stock sounds to create his music. He does not play any instruments, but knows enough chords to create something that sounds cool.
Joshua discovered at the age of ten that he could write music. He started by writing lyrics then coming up with melodies. He had to memorize the melodies for many years until he was old enough to purchase a 16-track and mic. Now, his DAW of choice is Logic Pro.
Heavily influenced by 80s new wave, dark wave, pop, as well as reggae and Latin music. Some of his favorite bands include No Doubt, Aterciopelados and The Cure, although it is clear that Joshua Martin is creating a universe of his own.
We have added Quiero Tenerte Pa Mi to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore Joshua Martin‘s wider discography including The Space In Between Us.
