Setting the tone with enigmatic and cerebral notes with pitched vocal add libs, Allee + Pom Poms open their collaborative single, Boots with intrigue, dimensionality and the introspective and situational lyrics, “I don’t know what to do, I like nice Boots, I see them, I’m shaking, my bank account is breaking, I’m consumed…”
Boots expands into a psychedelic, alternative pop-rock hybrid anthem for the not-so-average shopaholic! The opus is written by Allee + Pom Poms who self-identify as “two gals with a sizable obsession for boots”! The playful and conceptual number also features rock goddess, Liv Slingerland performing guitar.
We learn that the song was originally part of a fractionalized NFT collection “State College” in collaboration with Metabyte Studio (London), Dresage, Conny Franko, and Emma Cole.
We appreciate the authenticity of the track, and the dynamism that the three creators bring to the composition. Intricate production detailing is a highlight and we love the narrative and soundscape, which also reminds us of early Lana Del Rey demos.
The artists cite Jack White, Dead Weather and St. Vincent as influences, although it is clear that they are creating a universe of their own. Speaking on the intention of the song, they tell us, “We wanted to write an anthem for all the folks out there that like treating themselves.” Adding with poetic nuance, “Boots is a release that is completely about vanity and loving yourself!”
We have added Boots to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we immerse ourselves further in Pom Poms’ wider discography, and await new material from Allee!
