Establishing the mood with intricate electric guitar, driving curiosity energy and creating a sense of intrigue, we are already hypnotized by Abandon The Fall‘s latest single, Devours You.
Expanding into a luscious and cerebral alternative rock soundscape with an atmospheric wail, we are fully immersed. Opening with the sage lyrics, “That’s not the point it’s just the principle…”, we start to experience the message of the opus. We learn that Devours You features Dayshell (Shayley Bourget – ex-clean vocalist, bassist, guitarist for the band of Mice & Men), and is a back-and-forth conversation with “someone who is going down a dark path in life”.
Abandon The Fall, who is also known as frontman Juan Espinoza, confesses, “In assessing the situation (and trusting his own judgement), the vocalist knows all too well that any bit of help offered will only result in them being consumed as well. The vocalist is not the hero that they are being made to be. This goes against his morals, especially knowing that the individual won’t change for the better.”
The composition is anthemic and holds a sense of authenticity, Juan tells us that “Abandon The Fall comes from a place of total transparency. Honest throughout, vulnerable at times, a balance of empowerment and weakness, Abandon the Fall covers the human experience in sound.”
The artist cites KoRn, Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails and Deftones as some of his influences, but it is clear that Abandon The Fall is creating a universe of his own.
We appreciate the depth and intention that Abandon The Fall shares and have added Devours You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography including Exhale and Memories.
