Establishing the mood with a luxurious alternative rock soundscape which feels immersive and warm, Will Soma opens his new single, Reverse with the powerful lyrics, “Soul is burning as my eyes awake…”
The opus expands into a thought-provoking classic rock number, which touches upon the themes of the human condition and situations being in reverse, and how they might play out. The overall feeling is high concept and dimensional, yet relatable on a personal level.
It is clear that Will is singing from his experience and we appreciate the emotive hook, “What if the world was to Reverse, would it feel better or would it feels worse? I’d fight for you with the lyrics of angels, what it be a blessing or would it be a curse?”
Speaking on the meaning of Reverse, Will says, “The song is simply about a reflection on how our personal worlds would be different if we had made different decisions.”
The Sydney based artist cites 90s and 2000s rock and grunge as his main inspirations, which we feel coming through in his art, although it is clear that Will is creating sound of his own.
We love the authenticity that Will Soma shares with his sound and have added Reverse to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Will’s first two singles, Days are Long and When You’re Asleep.
