We recently featured Lewis Muller for his emotive and atmospheric debut single, Deny, so we were thrilled to hear that he had just released the brand new, 1 at a Time.
Establishing the mood with a pulsing beat and a hybrid-organic texture amidst luxurious strings, Lewis Muller opens 1 at a Time with a the moving lyrics, “Remember when it was you and me, something’s wrong with your energy…”
The opus expands into an atmospheric synth-pop vibe as Lewis shares his feelings and reminisces, but with an optimistic and empowering end game. The rising artist from Amsterdam tells us, “1 at a Time is about being able to be show yourself more self love.”
Lewis adds with wisdom, “We tend to be our own worst critics, and I have definitely felt inadequate, but this is my heart and soul. I wrote this song to remind myself to take each day at a time and to cherish the simple things.”
The composition builds climactically showcasing Lewis Muller’s refined and wide vocal range. We are in awe. We also appreciate the supportive lyrics, “I’m really rooting for you…”, and the gentle and nurturing energy of the song which encourages us to reflect and show ourselves compassion. 1 at a Time feels cathartic for both artist and listener.
Lewis confesses that he is influenced by an array of artists, from Janet Jackson and Sade to Aphex Twin and Arca. We love the diversity and it is clear that the emerging talent is defining his own sound.
