Setting the tone with a luscious and enigmatic soft rock soundscape, Mark Winters opens his single, It Moves in You, with the seductive lyrics, “I watch you move, it draws me in, hypnotized, I can’t lie…”, and we too are hypnotized and living in the moment of the song with the Houston-based rising artist.
It Moves in You expands into a classic meets dream pop, folk rock fusion energy as Mark takes us on an intimate and intentionally moving journey. We appreciate Mark Winters‘s expression and authenticity in the composition, in both sound and narrative.
Atmospheric harmonies envelope us as Mark sings the hook, whilst we feel the depth of the piece and his personal connection to the words he sings with the emotive middle eight. The single also comes with a cinematic performance music video which sees Mark embody his sound and vision for his art.
The singer-songwriter and guitarist, who is also a self-described “poet and lover of the world”, tells us that he writes about “the good people, places and things I find on my journey”. We love an optimistic soul and that comes through in his artistry and the love energy he shares with his creations.
Th artist who is also an aerospace engineer confesses, “My influences are Tom Petty, [I] love his simple emotional songwriting, and John Mayer. I’m a bluesy guitarist who loves non standard chord progressions with a little bit of Jason Mraz thrown in on the side.” We can understand Mark’s influences, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own.
It is no surprise that since his debut album Slipstream in 2019, Mark has garnered numerous positive reviews, has been placed on hundreds of playlists, and racked up over a million streams worldwide. He’s poised to continue this success with his sophomore album, Boundary Layer.
His goal with this new record is to inspire others to break through barriers in their lives and to use emotional connections and energy to move in the direction they were meant to go. We learn that Mark and his wife have compassion for people in the world and believe it’s important to give back to one’s community. Mark enjoys mentoring and donates a lot of his time to philanthropic organizations throughout the Houston area.
We are obsessed and have added It Moves in You to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream more of Mark Winters‘s discography!
