Each week, we feature some fresh new releases from emerging and established talent from around the world, these are highlighted on our New Music Spotlight playlist on Spotify, but we also share a handful of artists in our round-up who are making waves.

You can read more features in our Music + Culture section.

ABISHA – Everything Falls Into Place

ABISHA has shared her sophomore EP, Everything Falls Into Place. The record navigates intimate themes of self realization and relationships with confidence and optimism. The rising artist showcases her versatility and nuanced performance prowess, whilst every song invites her audience to indulge in the spontaneous and playful style of her craft.

Speaking of her new record, ABISHA says, “Everything Falls Into Place means a lot to me. It’s so personal, so open and it represents my journey of finding love and true happiness that have changed my life. It represents my path from acknowledging that I deserved better, to finding better. It’s also a journey of self-discovery and self-love by embracing who I am.”

She adds, “I wrote this whole record alongside Greg West and Dan Ferrari Lane who also produced it. I love working with them because I’m so comfortable with them yet every time we write a song, they manage to push me out of my comfort zone! They’re incredibly talented and I’m so grateful to have had them create this body of music with me.”

Beabadoobee – Sunny Day

To celebrate the release of her new album BeatopiaBeabadoobee has released the Luke Casey & Alexandra Leese directed music video for her single, Sunny Day.

Sunny Day is a song that I’ve always wanted to make but something that I’ve never done before,” Bea says. “Putting it on Beatopia was quite nerve wracking for me but I’m glad I did. We had written it during a week of crazy productivity in terms of creating songs, I had a session with Starsmith and the song just flowed naturally. I love it.”

Robbie Rapids – April’s Gonna Rain

We recently featured Robbie Rapids as he reminisced on the charming, Adolescent Lover and we were obsessed with his moving, narrative-driven debut single, Who Shot Them Down, so we were pleased to hear that he just released the brand new, April’s Gonna Rain.

Opening with vibrant, dynamic electric guitar and textured drums, we are once again in love with the luscious soundscape that Robbie Rapids has created. He sings the situational lyrics, “Do you see the weather today? Storms are coming our way…”, as April’s Gonna Rain unfolds into a an upbeat upbeat, funk rock energy.

We learn that April’s Gonna Rain was written about a co-worker Robbie had a crush on from years back who was engaged to be married. The opus is written and performed by Robbie Rapids and David Levene. We love the guitar solo and the poetic nuance of the composition.

The opus comes with an epic and cinematic music video which really brings the concept of the song to life beautifully. We are obsessed and have added April’s Gonna Rain to our New Music Spotlight playlist.

Ordinary // Colours – Pacific Division

Setting the tone with a muted guitar and intricate drums, before expanding with glockenspiel and synth textures to create an enigmatic and immersive sonic tapestry, Ordinary // Colours open his single Pacific Division with the lyrics, “When it’s done, we’ll go back, to our ordinary lives…

Creating a hybrid of folk, indie, shoegaze and ambient sounds, Ordinary // Colours, also known as Justin Chee is a  singer-songwriter based out of Toronto, Canada. Pacific Division is the debut single from his new project!

Speaking on the release, Ordinary // Colours confesses, “Pacific Division is an internal monologue from a person who has left their hometown to go to a new city in order to try to realize their ambitions and goals but slowly gets bogged down by reality through an undesirable job and precarious economic situation.”

He adds, “This ambition gets pared down over time, as the narrator slowly tries to self-medicate through their situation via consumption (e.g. junk food) and consumerism (e.g. shopping), neglecting the support of family and friends before realizing that their current situation may be too difficult to overcome.”

We appreciate the depth that Ordinary // Colours shares with his debut, and the dimensional nature of the composition.

Adri-Anne Ralph – Follow You Anywhere

Establishing the mood with mysterious, layered and crescendoing keys, we are immediately mesmerized by Adri-Anne Ralph‘s new single, Follow You Anywhere.

The rising artist from Anaheim opens with the vulnerable lyrics, “I know something’s changed, you seem so far away, ayyyy, nothing feels like it used to, like it used to…

Laced with emotion, Follow You Anywhere expands into an emotive pop meets alternative R&B vibe with trap high hats to express Adri-Anne Ralph‘s perspective on her journey of faith as a Christian.

We learn that Adri-Anne created Follow You Anywhere with a passion that comes from “knowing the dark place that God brought her out of” and her connection and devotion to the universe through the highs and lows. We really appreciate this type of conscious art that can only help human beings connect on a deeper level with God.

The song is a collaboration with Tennessee hip hop production group Streetburnerz Productions and we have added Follow You Anywhere to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
