We recently featured Sydney Gordon for her impactful single, Say What You Mean, so we were thrilled to hear that the rising pop star had just released the brand new, Flirt With Disaster.
Establishing the mood with an enigmatic and vibrant synth, Sydney Gordon opens Flirt With Disaster with atmospheric vocals and situational lyrics where Sydney has a conversation with herself about love, the human condition, taking risks, boundaries and finding peace within herself.
Flirt With Disaster expands into a contemporary synth-pop-rock energy, a sound that we have come to love from Sydney Gordon with fierce hooks and wise lyricism. The song is Sydney’s fourth single and showcases her luscious vocal tone and introspective nature.
Speaking on the intention and creative process of the single, Sydney tells us, “When listening to Flirt with Disaster, many may think that in this record I’m warning another girl about a guy that I’ve had a bad experience with.”
“But I’m actually talking to myself and reminding her not to fall back into a bad situation that she was once in. Sometimes although you have feelings for someone, they aren’t good for you”, she adds.
“This is me reminding “that girl over there” that she has been through this before. In the chorus, I flip the conversation and tell this boy how this relationship has affected me in the past but I’m better than that!”, concludes Sydney with wisdom.
Sydney co-wrote Flirt With Disaster in collaboration with the song’s producers Cindy Valentine and Gemini. The track was mixed by Tony Maserati and mastered by Dave Kutch. The rising artist from New York is epic live and The Bitter End has become a performance residency, showcasing Sydney Gordon and her band frequently. Upcoming performances at the venue include July 30th and August 27th.
We appreciate the depth that Sydney Gordon brings to her artistry, and have added Flirt With Disaster to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Sydney Gordon‘s wider discography!
