Setting the tone with an intricate and divergent percussive riff, Stromer Hills opens if u like the way i walk, with the situational lyrics, “If you’re lovin’ the way that I walk, baby come, come dance with me…”
The song expands into a playful and confident contemporary pop track with memorable hooks and a dimensional vocal performance from Stromer Hills. We love the soundscape and the out of this world levels of futurism in the production.
The Canadian born artist based in LA, also known as Zachary Skarzynski, embodies authenticity in his sound and message and it is no surprise that he has already cultivated a dedicated and cult following.
When asked about the meaning of the song, Stromer Hills confesses, “You could say that the song is a story of what I like to call airport love. I think it has happened to everyone at some point where you see a cute girl (or guy) at the airport (or anywhere for that matter) and there’s this little spark and connection but you know you’ll probably never see each other again.”
Speaking consciously on the writing process for if u like the way I walk, Stromer Hills says it felt like “I was in the room with God or some sort of higher being and [they were] writing through me”.
He adds, “I was in a really dark place and truly felt like giving up on my music career. I felt like everyone had given up on me and that I had let everybody down. The only sense of light I still had was that I knew this was a test and that God still hadn’t given up on me yet, so I began to pray every day through the good times and the bad, teaching myself to always stay in a grateful mindset no matter the circumstance.”
“It took some time before I felt the confidence to begin to record music again. Once I began taking purposeful action in my life, I felt like everything I did was a mission for God and things started coming to me in a way which they never did before. My sense of self came back and I found myself having energy and creativity and an overall sense of life. I began recording vocals in my closet so that I could capture some of this positive energy on a track”, the rising star admits.
We love Stromer Hills‘s message and sound and have added if u like the way i walk to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream his wider discography including CALL ME and SINKING.
Stromer Hills leaves us with a final optimistic message saying, “There really is a lot of hurt in the world right now, but I think there’s an equal or greater amount of blessings that we’re ignoring and I think a big part of that is the narrative that’s being pushed.”
“I think there simply needs to be a shift of focus from the negative to the positive. I truly believe and have experienced the fact that thoughts and words can become reality, so going forward I want to embody that as much as I can through music and provide my listeners with… a breath of fresh air”, concludes Stromer Hills with profound wisdom and good intentions.
