Setting the tone with glistening, celestial keys, LW6 and CP6 open their new collaborative single, Scene with intrigue and drama. Synth strings and high hats build amidst vocal add libs, before the beat explodes and we experience the opening rap verse.
Scene expands into a subversive drill opus about “the current hip hop and rap scene in the world”. Both artists delivers lyrical magic on the track. LW6 and CP6 have been friends sine childhood through school, and started making music in 2020.
We appreciate the way that the pair express their emotion and disillusionment with the current scene, which they describe as “harsh and hard to guide through”. The piece is laced with optimism as they benefit and make an income off the scene, however the pair reinforces that it still does not negate the fact that the rap scene and industry is bitter and a hard place to find success in.
We learn that Scene was recorded in Pirate Studios, Dublin over the course of three studio sessions in October 2021. The song is produced by Argentinian producer, A.I. and was completed in the mixing and mastering process by The Music VII.
LW6 and CP6 cite English and American rappers such as Digga D, Dave, Eminem, V9 and Roddy Ricch as influences, although it is clear that they are creating a universe of their own.
We love the authenticity that LW6 and CP6 create with, and have added Scene to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore their wider collaborative discographies.
