By now you may have noticed that we have featured Romain Gutsy for his optimistic and playful album, When Leonard Met Dolly, and one of the album tracks, If You See Her, so we were thrilled to hear that the brilliant artist had just released the brand new single, My Only Love.
Immersing us with luscious and intricate Spanish guitar and strings texture, we are immediately hypnotized by My Only Love, before Romain Gutsy professes his love with the lyrics, “Lovely, sweetie, honey, pretty, oh so pretty…”
The song expands to deliver a passionate and romantic song that expresses the deep sentiment of “the one in love, the one who experiments the full power and eternity of what can link a being with another forever.”
We appreciate the energy that Romain Gutsy shares with his vision and the authentic nature of his lyricism and artistry.
The musical arrangement is more expansive than what we have previously experienced from Romain Gutsy. An electronic soundscape is fused into the organic instrumentation giving the opus dimensionality and a sense of futurism.
We learn that for the record, the chord progression contained in the verses of the song is directly inspired of the Study #1 by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, composed in Paris in 1928.
The arrangement of My Only Love is by Marc Bentel, a South-African music professional, who moved to Florida, USA after having won multiple awards with bands he was part of. Marc also did the mixing and mastering of the single in his studio in Florida.
Fans of Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen will definitely be able to connect with the sound of Romain Gutsy, but he is certainly creating a universe of his own.
We have added My Only Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Romain Gutsy‘s wider discography including the album released earlier this year!
