Setting the tone with an enigmatic, synthesized vocal sample, followed by an immersive and bass-driven luscious soundscape with intricate and unique percussive detailing, fused with vocal textures, Holger Seidelin opens his new single, Beautiful Morning with atmospheric and subversive vocals.
Opening with the introspective and conceptual lyrics, “You ask what hides in my DNA, I say there is ego, egos, world wars, money and love in the trunk… You say there are islands in your DNA, islands as big as those garbage islands drifting around out there…”, Beautiful Morning expands to examine the collapse of a relationship and its ties to the collapse of the West.
We appreciate the double meaning of the opus and the passive aggressive hook, “Beautiful morning in this motherf**ker”, is highly memorable.
Holger Seidelin is a Danish songwriter and performer based in Berlin, Germany. His artistic practice and songs work with the relationship between political themes and love. In essence, a commentary on how the idea of love in the West must be deconstructed to avoid a continued destruction of society.
Lyrics are always an important part of Holger Seidelin’s practised and there are many highlights in Beautiful Morning including the profound, “I don’t understand this toxic safety you seek, is it because we lived in other humans, lived in our mothers – is that why u want a hug so deep?”, and the existential, “So Should we breed like we did before? Another catastrophe, another proud nation, another war…”
Holger is currently working on an album in Berlin and Copenhagen, whilst studying dance and choreography. We have added Beautiful Morning to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Holger Seidelin‘s wider discography including H, November, November and 2020 Women in Glass Cages.
