Setting the tone with bold and vibrant electric guitar, fused with rising drums, Silent D opens his latest single, Needin’ Reason with passion, and the wise adage, “Just cos you want it, don’t mean you need it…”
The opus expands with a luscious alternative rock meets funk hybrid frequency to deliver a song about trying to find an excuse to get out of a situation.
Elaborating on the meaning of Needin’ Reason, Silent D confesses, “Personally, it’s about trying to let a significant other go, but not having the strength or will power to do it on my own. I am looking for anything that might be able to push me forward and help me move on.”
We appreciate Silent D‘s passion and nuance as he delivers the lyrics, “I need a reason to forget, and a reason to regret this place…”. We also love the genre expansive nature of the track, which switches from Funk/R&B grooves to a riff-rock explosion, while incorporating soulful, rock and hip hop vocals.
The single also features KIMU favourites Tony Narvaez and Dani Twice (we loved their joint collaboration, BAG MAN) and we are in awe of the dimensionality that both artists add to the composition. Their collective flow is out of this world and gives us chills as Needin’ Reason evolves!
Silent D as a project is based on the foundation of collaboration and every track released is set to have different artists involved. Silent D tells us, “I believe that type of creative teamwork between humans is what makes music so amazing and unique.” We agree!
We have added Needin’ Reason to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we also stream Silent D‘s debut single, Set You Down.
