Setting the tone with an immersive bass and synth frequencies with industrial percussive detailing, Signs of Site opens his sophomore single, We’re in the Words Where We’re Born with intrigue and atmospheric vocals.
We appreciate the cosmic textures and intricate detailing of the soundscape, which feels transcendental and subversive. Speaking on his artistry and the release, Signs of Site who is also known as Dave Asher says the piece is intended to “recharge the longing in our souls.”
A lyrical highlights is the reassuring, “Nothing’s gonna hurt us now…“, and Dave cites the Beatles, Beck and Radiohead as influences, and others have references Jonsi and Sigur Ros as similar artists, although it is clear that Signs of Site is creating a universe of his own.
Elaborating on the meaning of the song, the rising artist from Chicago says that We’re in the Words Where We’re Born is about “a deep connection in a relationship with a person, where you accept them to the point that you grow together and save each other in some way.”
Dave adds, “I definitely want to leave the specifics of the music open to interpretation, but I would love for the music to transport the listener to a powerful emotional, somewhat reflective, and ultimately beautiful and soulful place that makes them appreciate the times and relationships we’re given in this life.”
We appreciate the poetic nuance of the composition and its immersive nature, and have added We’re in the Words Where We’re Born to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we also stream Signs of Site‘s debut single, There’s No One Else but You.
