Establishing the mood with an enigmatic and immersive harp, fused into a vibrant yet mysterious flute, we are already hypnotized by Michael Bakrnčev‘s Calm.
The opus expands with subtle tempo changes to create a dimensional tapestry, before the violin amplifies our listening experience, adding drama to the opus. The full title of the track is Calm – Trio for Flute, Violin and Harp, and the three instruments take on equal roles of joint protagonists to create a soundscape that is ethereal, meditative and evocative.
As the transcendental composition expands, we are taken on a poetic journey that feels nostalgic with elements of ancient energy before the piece takes on a more urgent approach, coming to life just after the mid-point of the piece. The intricacy of the harp finger work is truly out of this world, and the amplified energy give us a sense of optimism and excitement with soaring romantic and melodic virtuosic moments.
Calm is the debut single release from multi award-winning composer, and Australian of the Year nominee, Michael Bakrnčev (bah-karn-chev). The work was composed in 2017 as a gift to his wife for their wedding day. Now, five years since its first and only live performance, the recording is used to help lull their children to sleep due to the calm and meditative nature of the work.
Michael Bakrnčev is embarking on a global digital release campaign over the next twelve months, releasing works that have never been commercially available until recently.
We appreciate the authenticity of the composition and have added Calm – Trio for Flute, Violin and Harp to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the award-winning artist!
