Establishing the mood with a pulsating synth and cosmic detailing, Teddy Jackson opens his latest release, LICK with the sensual lyrics, “Don’t wanna kiss on the lips, boy get down come and try some of this, body right here come and lick it like this….”
The opus expands into a cerebral, hyperpop hybrid frequency with intricate and immersive electronic production, co-created with Michelangelo Dousis, that has us mesmerized. The rising artist from London delivers a sexually charged liberation anthem for the freedom of expression demonstrating Teddy’s versatile skillset and taste.
With his intention to always create something unique and unusual, the composition highlights and array of influences throughout the track, from experimental, to hip hop, to house, to commercial pop. We are in awe of Teddy’s flow and the textured vocal production. We also appreciate the symbolic cover art by Ítar Pas.
Teddy seduces us with his playful and visual lyricism, and through his unabashed and confident delivery, he provides a fun, experimental, and empowering experience.
Lyrics such as “flip the switch, turn it up a notch, increase the heat, show me what you got” encourage the listener to experiment and push themselves outside of their comfort zone whilst others such as “I’m young, and I’m fresh, and I’m c**t, from the hair, to the nails, to the c**t” provide that confidence boost to get you feeling yourself.
Speaking on the intention of the track, Teddy confesses, “This is my anthem for sex positivity and freedom of expression. It’s about not being embarrassed about your sexual desires and fully embracing your sexuality, kinks and all. It’s also about oral.”
His previous IG LIVE series ‘Rethinking Kink’ with Kaltblut Magazine worked to help provide insight into kink, the kink community, and sex work. The series worked to help combat the stigma related to these communities, and LICK continues his message of sex positivity and sexual freedom.
LICK is available now on streaming platforms with music video coming July 1st! We have added LICK to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Teddy’s previous single, FREAK!
