Setting the tone with a glistening and percussive celestial soundscape with nuanced string detailing, we are already hypnotized by Chapell‘s latest release, Beyond the Blue Sky.
Opening with the lyrics, “A blood red sky is crashing into the ocean, the moon flies past touching down into my soul, undecided my brain is moving in slow motion, the days rush by, spinning out of control…”, Beyond the Blue Sky evolves into a genre expansive opus with elements of alternative rock, pop and soul.
The message of Beyond the Blue Sky is inspiring and we feel inspired and empowered by Chapell‘s message and epic and anthemic instrumentation. The guitar work is simply our of this world!
Chapell is a New York band led by enigmatic frontman Alan Chapell, they recount real and raw stories throughout a prolific catalog of genre-agnostic pop. It is no surprise that they have been streamed over 1.5 million times as of 2022, and acclaimed by everyone from Huffington Post to Time Out NY, Grateful Web and On Stage Magazine.
Speaking on their artistry, Alan Chapell confesses, “We’re a rock band that borrows from multiple genres. I’ve lived in India and Central America at different times in my life and so lots of what I’ve heard and experienced from those places comes out in my music. And that presented some challenges in terms of breaking through initially.”
He adds, “We don’t fit comfortably into any of the boxes that the music industry has created. But over time, I think we’ve been able to overcome that – and have essentially created our own genre of music.”
We love the energy that Chapell shares with their artistry and have added Beyond the Blue Sky to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream their wider discography including Wave as You Walk Past and Before You Break!
