We recently featured Nobody’s Wolf Child for the final single of her epic debut trilogy, Lost Among the Pines, so we were thrilled to hear her brand new release, Green Fires.
Establishing a mood with rising, down-pitched and amplified vocal textures, Nobody’s Wolf Child opens Green Fires with the situational lyrics, “Burned, burn on fire, rage across the land, I’ll turn your forest into plains, you won’t even miss the smell of rain…”
The song expands into a cinematic opus, signature to the iconography that we have learnt to expect from the rising artist based in the UK. Green Fires marks the fourth release and the start of a new trilogy of works from Nobody’s Wolf Child.
As far as the narrative of the composition goes, we learn that “After retreating into the forest and running from the world, the Wolf Child has discovered her pack, within that finding her inner strength. Her relationship with humanity has disintegrated and, in her rage, and disappointment, she seeks to forge a deeper connection with the ‘unhuman’.”
As with the previous trilogy, there is a hypnotizing visual attached to the song, elaborating on the story of the Wolf Child. This trilogy takes a moodier direction with amplified aggression in the lyricism and soundscape.
It is no surprise that Nobody’s Wolf Child has grown a dedicated fanbase in the last six months. The rising star has been showcased on BBC Introducing, hit Radar playlists on Spotify and will soon reach over 100,000 views on YouTube.
We appreciate her depth, message, nuanced details and harmonies in the production, and of course, the visuals are simply out of this world! We have added Green Fires to the top of our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Nobody’s Wolf Child‘s wider discography including The Devil’s Gold, The Fall and Lost Among the Pines.
