Setting the tone with immersive and enigmatic electric guitar riffs, Nick Kandler opens his new single, Kill You Slowly with atmospheric vocals and the introspective lyrics, “If you find the truth, it’ll all come down to a ticket back home, and you said don’t lie to you…”
Kill You Slowly expands into a contemporary frequency with Nick’s soaring vocals and cathartic lyricism as he sings emotively, “Paint you a picture of me, so I don’t leave you lonely, like a bullet in your heart I can’t stop, so close it off, or it’ll kill you slowly…”
Speaking on the creative process of the track, Nick confesses, “I was originally inspired by the song All Your Exes by Julia Michaels – just the sheer fact that it goes from a soft pop song into something more rocky on the hook.”
The rising artist from Los Angeles elaborates, “I wanted to take that concept and make it into something that I feel hasn’t been done in this way. The first verse was a free style that I had written the first day and we had to come back to finish the writing.”
When discussing the meaning of Kill You Slowly, Nick tell us, “The song is about a white lie that I told someone I was seeing and it ultimately ruined things between us.”
