Setting the tone with glistening and immersive synth melodies, astral vocal details and a textured bass frequency, Nicco Homaili opens his brand new single, 666, with a trap meets hip-hop hybrid energy and the introspective lyrics, “Triple 6 fallen angel whispers in my ear, the work is done for the worst and now I really fear, to fall in love is to fall into my deepest feelings, now I turned myself to a devil in the eyes of hers…”
The song expands to deliver a high concept, yet relatable message touching upon themes of the human condition, (self) love, loneliness and forgiveness following a broken engagement.
Rising artist Nicco Homaili from Singapore explains the meaning of the symbolic song by confessing “666 marks a new chapter in my trajectory because it is the most brutal song I’ve ever written. It predicts a big breakup that I faced while I was putting my music on the shelf. It’s an uncompromising ode to self-love, to sacrificing relationships that you hold dear but which don’t benefit you, ultimately.”
We appreciate the immersive nature of the soundscape that Nicco has created, along with his poetic nuance and lyrical prowess. His atmospheric, R&B delivery is smooth and we love the production value of the vocals, full of intricate echoes.
It is no surprise that Nicco Homaili has accomplished extraordinary and organic chart success with his 2018 single Doppelgänger debuting at #47 on the Spotify New Music Friday International chart and was a hit on the respective Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan charts.
That same year he released his critically celebrated debut album Late Night Doppelgänger, which features a slew of chart-blasting anthems: Trust No One (Singapore Viral 50, #20), Dots in a Dot (Spotify Beats & Rhymes) and Trust No One (MTV Asia’s Big Chill).
We have added 666 to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Nicco Homaili‘s wider discography!
