Setting the tone with immersive and enigmatic electric guitar riffs fused with cosmic frequencies, Ratchet opens Fixed Heart with the existential lyrics, “Why do you see me? Why can’t I just be dead? I’m trying so hard not to be… almost dead…”
We are already hypnotized by the organic and authentic nature of the opus, which goes on to ask “why does the moon inspire me?”, amidst waves of textured instrumentation.
The self-aware nature of the narrative is particularly enticing. We learn that Ratchet is a nineteen year old independent artist based in the Netherlands.
From trying to impress a girl by learning the guitar, he now makes music on a daily basis and isn’t planning to stop anytime soon. The guitar solo is out of this world and we love the outro which changes energy giving a more subversive and moody energy to the composition.
Speaking on their artistry, Ratchet tells us, “Every song has its own dark aesthetic and most of the time tells a story about Ratchet’s personal problems.”
The multi-genre yet cohesive artist elaborates, “Music has become more than just socializing for me”, although they are still at school, there is no doubt that the rising star will be able to create on an expansive level.
The themes of Fixed Heart discuss “the darkest human side that every person possesses, while at the same time trying to still feel some remorse”. We appreciate the unique arrangement and innovation from Ratchet.
We have added Fixed Heart by Ratchet to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream his wider discography including his album, It Took My Life.
