Setting the tone with a bold and enigmatic alternative country frequency, Jennifer Alvarado opens Rock This Way with the lyrics, “Like a crazy train moving on down the track, to scared to look forward, don’t wanna look back, like a bird free falling in a neon sky, we were born to take it easy on the sweet slow ride, like a burned out jukebox still plays rock and roll, your love soothes my soul …”
The song expands with nuanced poetry to deliver a meaningful message about a rock steady connection with love energy, it could be with a person, a construct or the universe.
The hook really cements the message with, “We’re gonna rock this way to the beat, steady as a drum, gonna prove us right and prove them wrong…”
Speaking on her artistry, Jennifer confesses, “I wanted to pay tribute to all the classic rock songs that have inspired me over the years while still keeping my country roots. Music is supposed to be fun so I wanted to create a party song that people can have fun singing.”
We love the build of the song and how poetic Jennifer Alvarado‘s lyricism is. Rock This Way is the second single from the record. Jennifer’s music has a country sensibility with a pop current running through it. Her voice is smooth and passionate with a sweetness and power that merge seamlessly into satisfaction for the listener. Her sound is a mixture of country, pop and blues that reflect an eclectic blend of influences, and it is clear that she is creating a sound and vibe of her own.
It is no surprise that Jennifer has been recognized locally for her songwriting and was named ”One to Watch” by Nashville Songwriters Association in Spring 2021. Her songs “IDWYB” and “Filthy Water” were Top 10 Finalists for “Best Pop Song” and “Best Modern Country Song” for the Spring and Summer 2021 World Songwriting Awards.
