Setting the tone with a whirring frequency which has us feeling astral immediately, Indigo Daydream opens Slow Down with an announcement saying, “This is your captain speaking, we’ll be be cruising at a speed of about 67,000 miles and hour…”, as he paints a picture of us soaring through space and around the Sun, on board organic space ship, Earth.
We already love the philosophy and concept of the song. Indigo Daydream confesses to us that Slow Down is inspired by David Bowie’s Space Oddity, “hence the lightning bolt” exclaims the rising artist from Totnes in the United Kingdom.
After take off, the song expands into a glistening and immersive alternative rock meets dream pop frequency which has us hypnotized. Indigo Daydream elaborates, “Slow Down is a song about Earth’s beautiful journey through space and the fragility of life for those on board.”
The epic single comes with a visual, due for release soon, which uses real NASA footage of Earth from space and has been submitted as an entry to the NASA Cinespace Short Film Competition in Austin, Texas. Iconic.
Indigo Daydream cites Tame Impala, Ride and Mazzy Star as influences although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own. We love the lyric, “the Earth is moving, can you hear the sound”, followed by a heartbeat, which make for a truly a touching moment.
We appreciate the message and love the soundscape. Slow Down has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream the wider discography of Indigo Daydream.
