Establishing the mood with enigmatic and warped keys and a textured riser before breaking into an alternative pop meets hip-hop hybrid soundscape, Comics Kade opens CHASIN with atmospheric lyrics about his connection with the muse of the song.
CHASIN expands to deliver an earworm of a composition with a super catchy hook that is stuck in our heads. The track also features TX Tooley who delivers a modern day Atlanta style rap verse.
The single is based off Comics Kade‘s past relationship where he found himself putting so much in but getting very little back. He was so in love, he ignored everything living in his own dream and not wanting to comeback to reality.
We appreciate the depth and flow of both artists on the track and have added CHASIN to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore more from Comics Kade who dubs himself a one-person boyband.
CHASIN comes with a trippy music video that features Comics Kade and TX Tooley in a photography studio, performing the track in coordinated looks. We love the use of the fish eye lens which really dimensionalizes the self-directed visual. The video is recorded on a VX1000, and shot by Jazz Regal and Comics Kade.
Comics Kade started getting into music by being on the sideline by making cover art and shooting music videos in his home town of Midland, Texas. He was tired of seeing everyone make the same trap rap in his city, he wanted to make something he’d listen to. After listening to Arizona Baby by Kevin Abstract and seeing how vulnerable he was on each track, he decided to finally take that leap of faith and start making music.
In addition to Kevin Abstract, Comics Kade cites BrockHampton, Dominic Fike, Laundry Day, The Beatles, Frank Ocean and Frankie Valli as influences, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own.
