Setting the tone with intricate piano fused with the rippling sound of oceanic waves, we are already hypnotized by Hemispheres – the debut single from A Lone Acacia.
Hemispheres expands with synthetic frequencies and textured percussion to deliver an immersive energy before trip-hop-esque drums dimensionalize the opus, with added strummed acoustic guitar.
The composition is designed to “indulge [us] in the essence of escapism, to harvest feelings of relaxation and evoke the imagery of serene landscapes”. The rising artist confesses it is “the perfect companion for people lost in thought.”
A Lone Acacia cites Boards of Canada, Moby, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Björk, Tycho and Sigur Rós as influences and early listeners have even likened the track’s ethereal vibe to songs like Porcelain by Moby and Teardrop by Massive Attack, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of their own.
We appreciate the energy and authenticity with which the Birmingham-based artist creates, and have added the Hemispheres to our New Music Spotlight playlist and cannot wait to hear more from A Lone Acacia.
