Project21 releases powerful and thought-provoking debut single, Out Of The Dark

Setting the tone with a textured cymbal riser, expanding into jazz meets trip-hop fusion soundscape, we are already obsessed with Project21‘s debut single, Out Of The Dark.

Evolving with atmospheric vocals and intricate, dimensional production detailing, Project21 tells us that, “Out Of The Dark was driven by observing the literal and mental lockdown the human race has been subjected to”.

Project21‘s patriarch Y’urs continues, “It’s a reaction against authorities’ successful mission to drive us into our homes, to isolate families and loved ones and see how far it could push us into the dark. I wrote the song for freedom, peace, love and free expression…into the light.”

We love the powerful nature of the composition, and the vocals from Jah Ghatti singing “no great reset, no new normal…”, delivering introspection and depth with their lyricism. The guitar performance is exquisite and we are hypnotized by the drum pattern and celestial nuances.

The anarchic, avant-garde collective that is Project21 features a collaboration of artists from Germany, Jamaica, Ireland and Wales connected through COVID lockdowns. The project leader is Y’urs, who was deeply frustrated by the establishment, particularly in Germany during the height of the pandemic where she saw deeply troubling signs of a regime testing the waters as to how far humanity could be bullied and lied to. Y’urs now operates from Ireland and Jamaica and continues to connect and support artists. He is an “enigmatic, eccentric artist with an infectious love for art and a deep need to connect with humanity and nature through music”.

Out Of The Dark has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate more music from Project21!
