Setting the tone with enigmatic and intricate plucked electric guitar, Jzzy opens her single, After Effects, with the introspective, situational lyrics, “Yeah I hope you know that you must be off, it’s been years and I’m still out of luck…”
After Effects expands into an alternative rock meets pop-punk trap-hybrid frequency, with an emotive delivery from our protagonist as she touches on themes of unfinished business and needing to go back to have the last say on a romantic connection.
The song boasts a sense of nostalgia that Avril Lavigne fans will definitely be able to connect with, but is also fused with a sense of futurism due to the flawless and contemporary sound design of the opus.
Jzzy‘s vision for After Effects was a combination of the two things she loves, a driving electric guitar and sick trap sounds with a hard hitting bass. The fusion of teenage angst with self-awareness also generates a sense of timelessness from the rising 20-year old, Indian American pop singer-songwriter who grew up in the small town of Ajmer, Rajasthan.
After Effects is Jzzy‘s sixth single and it is also no surprise that she has already been featured by Rolling Stone India – a testament to her musical talents and growth as an independent artist who is on the path to success as she sets the stage for the future while moulding her style and sound.
We have added After Effects to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Jzzy’s wider discography including Moving On and Bare Minimum.
