Establishing a mood with intricate acoustic guitar, Jim Jagger opens his new single, Memories of Spring (releases on his label, Music Wrapped) with the vulnerable lyrics, “Well she never realised her strength, couldn’t see the sun shining through the leaves…”
The song expands into acoustic-folk-pop hybrid frequency, to tell the story of perseverance, the human condition, resilience and empowerment, but with a sense of innate sadness intertwined with optimism.
Speaking on his inspiration for Memories of Spring, Jim Jagger says, “This song was written for a lady who has everything going for her, but was lacking in confidence and going through some really tough times.”
He adds with wisdom, “Memories of Spring is about holding onto the best moments and weathering the storm.” We really connect with the lyrics, “she saw her strength in her smiling children”, the conceptual “she saw her strength in her memories…” and the powerful, “love is strong until the end…”
The composition features an emotive key change which really has us hypnotized as Jim sings the hook of the song with emotive depth and soaring vocals, “so hold on to, Memories of Spring“
Elaborating on the purpose of the creative opus, Jim says, “I was raising money for the Motor Neuron Disease Association by doing an Ultra Marathon. Several people gave me extremely generous donations of over £100. Following this I wanted to do something nice for those people so I offered to write a song about a topic of their choice. A friend told me she wanted a song for her friend (selfless), as she was going through some tough times and suffering from a loss of confidence.”
Jim adds with a sense of introspective wisdom, “Sometimes it’s hard to see our own strength, resilience and success even though others see it; the shade can hide the light and the shadows move. To get back to a better place, as hard as it seems, sometimes we need to flip our mindset on it’s head, focus on what we love and not lament on the bad times and weather the storm until we can find peace again.”
At least 50% of earnings from the song are going to the Motor Neuron Disease Association to help fund vital research and find a cure for Motor Neuron Disease. We have added Memories of Spring to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Jim Jagger‘s wider discography!
