We were recently introduced to StoneBridge for his high octane remix of Feelings by Chris Caulfield, so we were very excited to hear that his remix of Conner Eko‘s Sink had just come out, and needless to say, we are obsessed.
Establishing the mood with panning synths fused with luxurious vocal textures, the StoneBridge remix of Sink opens boldly as Conner Eko delivers atmospheric vocals.
The composition carries a powerful message of “being saved by your soulmate” and uses themes and metaphors with a cosmic perspective, for example the lyric “cosmic impacts and randomness”.
Some other lyrical highlights from Sink include the introspective and existential “Drifting out into nothingness. what’s my future will I last…”, the conceptual, situational “On this island I’m lost in time, I was swimming hard away from the shore”, and the infectious hook “I sink into your arms”.
Speaking on the themes of the track, Conner Eko says, “At its heart, Sink is a song about someone who feels completely lost and depressed like he may drift away or sink into nothingness (aka that’s me), but instead out of cosmic randomness finds his soulmate and is saved by “sinking into her arms” (that being my wife, Nancy)”.
We love the message, soundscape and vocal production, and how dimensional Conner Eko‘s vibe is under the influence of the Grammy-nominated StoneBridge, it is no surprise that the song is already getting airplay on SiriusXM.
We have added the StoneBridge remix of Conner Eko‘s Sink to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue exploring the discography of both artists.
