Establishing a mood with an intricate piano rendition of the iconic melody of Take On Me, originally by A-Ha, The Magic Epic has already made the song his own.
Fused with out of this world guitar detailing, synths and strings, the opus expands as The Magic Epic sings the iconic opening line, “We’re talking away, I don’t know what I’m to say, I’ll say it anyway…”
The lyrical theme of Take On Me is based on the protagonist of the song asking a romantic interest to accept them as a lover, it is quite an intimate song meaning, so we love how The Magic Epic has brought the meaning of the song to life in an authentic way, possibly how it was written.
The artist describes it as “earnest, sincere and heartfelt”, which we really feel coming though in his delivery. It’s so vastly sonically different from the original, that we cannot help but love the more emotional edge that The Magic Epic has given the song, as he plays all instruments with additional lead guitars by producer Andy Brook. The guitar solo is indeed out of this world, with a cosmic synthscape including vocal textures, which really elevate the dimensionality of the cover.
It is no surprise that The Magic Epic has had plays on numerous stations across the globe including I Heart Radio, BBC Introducing and Kiss FM.
We have added The Magic Epic‘s cover of Take On Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream his wider discography!
