Setting the scene with light, ascending arpeggiated piano with nuanced additional details and growing bass notes, we are already hypnotized by the glistening soundscape that Joe Kirby has created with his release, As We Float.
A synthetic riser leads us to a protagonist piano melody with additional textures that envelop us further. The immersive synth grows in dimensionality as the rippling arpeggiated keys from the introduction re-appear, although with their own additional intricacies.
We reach an orchestral crescendo, which fades out into an intimate finale which leaves us breathless and ready to hit the repeat button.
Composer Joe Kirby tell us, “As We Float is part of my seven track EP Abbey Road Masters: Repair and Reflect, which was recorded in Studio 2 of Abbey Road Studios, which was the most exciting project of my career so far!”
Speaking on the creative process, Joe confesses, “This project was my first time working with a real orchestra, and I had London Contemporary Orchestra playing the strings I wrote which almost brought me to tears hearing such professionals playing my music for the first time.”
Joe adds, “The pianos you hear are the same used by the Beatles and many other iconic artists throughout the years.”
We love the soundscape that Joe has created and are immersing ourselves further in the rising artist’s discography including Light on You and The Gray Dawn.
