Setting the tone with an enigmatic riser evolving into a luxurious synthscape with out of this world vocal production, Blake Yung opens his single Loaded with the vulnerable and raw lyrics, “Ridin’ with the nine right beside me, keep the Glock on me like ID, wake up in the morning with anxiety, paranoid somebody gon’ try me…”
Loaded is the lead single from Blake Yung‘s collaborative album with platinum producer Supah Mario, who produced Drakes’ Blue Tint and Young Thugs’ Thief in the Night, to name a few.
The story of Loaded is fierce yet defensive, touching on themes of the human condition, but also Blake’s life and come up. It’s a nuanced narrative with the main hook being that due to his circumstance, he has to literally keep a gun locked and loaded. At a time when there are daily mass shootings in America, it is a very of the now sentiment, relatable and somewhat sad.
The production of the composition by Supah Mario is next level, and we are in awe of the soundscape which has us reaching for the repeat one button.
Loaded also comes with a cinematic music video which showcases a brilliant and authentic performance from our protagonist. Blake Yung is a Portland based artist/songwriter who has been blazing his own trail. He released his introductory EP I’m Fine in April of 2020. Loaded is the lead single from his second project Leader Of The Lost Souls (a collaborative album with Supah Mario) which dropped in August of 2021. He is steadily ramping up to release a third album this Summer which is sure to shake up the alternative rap world.
We have added Loaded to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream Blake Yung‘s wider discography and immerse ourselves in more of Supah Mario‘s production.
