Setting the tone with strummed and immersive guitar, Uncle Strut open their new single, Corduroy Queen with the lyrics, “Met you in a bar, you were with somebody else, I asked is he just a friend, I thought to myself, I need them to end…”
With poetic nuance and intricate delivery, we love Uncle Strut’s flow and relatable subject matter. Corduroy Queen expands into a dream pop meets indie rock soundscape, with psychedelic detailing, designed vocal echos, luscious harmonies and a transcendental guitar solo with enigmatic whistles.
Speaking on the meaning of the song, Uncle Strut say, “The track tells the story of a first date and how the relationship is represented by corduroy. The track is the first of a new batch of songs we have recorded and we couldn’t be more excited to share them with the world!”
Formed in March 2021, Uncle Strut have been establishing themselves on stage in Vancouver, and passionately recording. Corduroy Queen is their seventh single!
Comparisons have been made to Red Hot Chilli Pepper and Sticky Fingers, but it is clear that Uncle Strut are creating a universe of their own! They have a profound and tangible passion for playing live and Uncle Strut are already back in the studio recording five more songs.
We have added Corduroy Queen to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring Uncle Strut‘s wider discography including Down South and Fucking My Friends.
