Setting the tone with an enigmatic riser exploding into a luscious and emotive alternative rock soundscape, we are already hypnotized by Metrophobia‘s new single, Crazy Heart.
Opening with the vulnerable lyrics, “Crazy Heart, they pushed me into you, and now you won’t let me go…” the song expands to touch on themes of the human condition, the voraciousness of love and the unexpectedness of reality.
Speaking on the meaning of the song, Metrophobia say, “There are times when life takes you to situations you didn’t expect. It disarms you and
you have no choice but to let yourself go. Destiny is like a river and sometimes it’s just easier to go with the flow…”
The rising duo from Geneva features Markus Gmür on vocals and José Garrido on guitar, bass and drum programming. We love their brand of luxurious, captivating melodies and immersive vision, cohesively fused with their introspective lyricism.
Metrophobia cite Pixies, Teenage Fanclub, Bivouac, Dinosaur Jr, Catherine Wheel, Ride, Sebadoh, Pavement, Guided By Voices and Grandaddy as some of the influences, but it is clear that Metrophobia are creating a unique soundscape of their own.
We have added Crazy Heart to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been immersing ourselves in Metrophobia‘s wider discography including Kryptonite for the Superman and Fire.
