Setting the tone with a rippling bell, expanding into an intricate bass line with crisp, immersive drums and a soulful indie rock frequency, we are already hypnotized by Onism E‘s latest single, Lin Manuel.
For reference, Lin-Manuel Miranda is an American actor, singer-songwriter, playwright, rapper, and filmmaker. He is known for creating the Broadway musicals In the Heights and Hamilton, and the soundtrack of Disney’s Encanto.
Front-woman Eline Chavez opens Lin Manuel with the poetic lyrics, “Sitting in the sunshine, listening as birds fly, praying for the rain to set me free…”, as the song evolves to touch upon themes of the human condition, philosophical concepts, vulnerability, insecurity, frustration and loneliness.
The instrumental segments of the track are out-of-this-world and we love the cohesive juxtaposition with Eline’s vocals and passion. A lyrical highlight is the profound, “I’m just tired of all the sadness, this crazy world has shaken me…”
Eline is inspired by groundbreaking female rockers like Joan Jett, Bonnie Raitt, Chrissie Hynde and Melissa Etheridge, but it is clear that she is creating a universe of her own with the Onism E project.
To flesh out the sound, Eline has teamed up with Texas-based trio includes guitarist Chris ‘Lefty’ Vargas, bass player Chris ‘CeeRod’ Rodriguez, and drummer Raj Arenas.
Onism E‘s intention is to help us choose compassion and connect. They say, “Everyone is welcome to come and take their own place in the emotionally riveting journey.”
We love their depth, message and soundscape and have added Lin Manuel to our New Music Spotlight playlist whilst we stream their wider discography!
