Setting the tone with an enigmatic riser and vocal textures, Beeson delivers the vulnerable and emotive lyrics, “Pink light, through my bathroom window, gonna wash you off until I can’t feel your fingers in my hair…” as she opens her latest single, Pink Light.
The song expands into a luxurious dream pop frequency with a dimensional bass-line, and tells the story of “post-hookup vulnerability hangover”.
Beeson, the stage name of Jane Beeson, is a 21-year-old indie alt-pop artist based in Utah, where she is currently finishing up a Political Science degree and playing regular live shows.
Speaking on her artistry, she says, “I am passionate about vulnerable songwriting and really catchy, memorable melodies. Pink Light is my second single and I feel that it captures a really distinct element of being in my early twenties: the post-hookup vulnerability hangover.”
“I was ghosted after a hookup and was feeling really defeated and insecure. My friends had warned me about the situation and I hadn’t listened. This song is about how I ruminated over the situation but eventually had a moment of awakening while in the shower in my historic house (it has oddly tinted windows that sometimes create colorful light). After that, I was finally able to move past it”, confesses Beeson.
The rising artist cites Lorde, Maggie Rogers, Phoebe Bridgers and Fleetwood Mac as inspirations, although it is clear that Beeson is creating a universe of her own.
We love the direction that Beeson is taking, her harmonies, epic songwriting, emotive delivery and charismatic performance, and it is no surprise that she has plenty of shows coming up, including line ups with superstars like Fetty Wap and Phoebe Bridgers!
