We recently featured JIVA as she channelled love energy to manifest peace on their song AHAVA, so we were thrilled to hear that she had also just released the brand new single, Outside the Window.
Setting the tone with enigmatic wind chimes, Outside the Window opens with nuanced vocal details as it expands with a textured bass guitar and atmospheric vocals. A crack of thunder introduces an acoustic guitar, as JIVA‘s passion builds within the song.
Speaking on the release, JIVA says, “This song is written in Ukrainian. It is dedicated to all the people who left their home because of the war.”
JIVA continues, “Millions of people have become refugees, entire cities lie in ruins, but in the chest of every person there is a piece of his homeland. It cannot be stolen or destroyed. that’s what the song is about.”
The emotional song is elegant and enigmatic, just like JIVA‘s existing discography and we are hypnotized. Outside the Window comes with a powerful performance video featuring JIVA and epic landscapes, filmed by Yarun Taranenko, who also shot the artwork.
JIVA is based in Israel and is cementing her emotive and mysterious trip-hop signature. Outside the Window is a timely dedication to all of the people who had to leave their homeland, and JIVA‘s poetic offering is bold and transcendental, inspiring peace with her eloquent vocals and cinematic visual.
The rising artist, who is a polyglot, writes and sings songs in Hebrew, Ukrainian, Russian and English. She also likes to experiment with genres across trip-hop, indie pop, dark pop, folk and many others. She grew up in Ukraine, which makes this release all the more personal, but has been living in Israel for many years. She absorbed Slavic culture, as well as the culture of the Middle East, both vocally and aesthetically resulting in the unique blend that we experience today.
JIVA leaves us with a powerful quote, “Music is the universal language of the soul. It doesn’t matter what language the song is in as long as it hits the heart.”
