Immersing us into the song with a textured dance soundscape with melodic nuance and pitched vocals, we are already hypnotized by Ed.1t and Glass Lord‘s cover of the iconic Destiny’s Child track, Say My Name.
We love the down-pitched vocals which are also reminiscent of the famous Cedric Gervais cover, however the drop on this revitalised version from Ed.1t and Glass Lord also features a glitched hook with the vocal detail “ay yeahy yey” on loop, which is featured later in the track on the original. This really dimensionalizes the composition.
The release comes hot off the release of Ed.1t & Glass Lord first collaboration, Strangers. The dance cover has an almost Daft Punk vibe to it with its pumping groove, soulful vocals and rhythmic guitars, so it is no surprise to hear that the duo are inspired by Daft Punk and Disclosure.
Ed.1t and Glass Lord met bonding over their shared love of House, Funk and Dance Pop and fuse catchy Pop melodies, funky Guitar riffs and hard House bass-lines to create their universe.
We have added the cover of Say My Name to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been streaming Strangers, as well as the wider discographies of Ed.1t and Glass Lord.
