Setting the tone with short breaths and echoing frequencies, evolving with percussion as the breaths get deeper, and a synthscape starts to build, we are already hypnotized by Skar de Line‘s latest single, Reset.
Skar de Line delivers a cerebral, atmospheric and subversive energy with his vocals, production and narrative as he tells the story of Reset, which is the first chapter of a new autobiographical suite of music from the rising artist.
The composition is an immersive experience designed to also be cathartic as the artist seeks to answer “the questions that constantly pulse in the back of our minds”.
Reset builds with emotion and suspense before it explodes into a tribal crescendo, and final chorus which truly has us in awe. The cinematic bed of dynamics is created with cyclical synths and distorted strings adding dimensionality to the opus.
The music video for Reset is a cinematic film-noir masterpiece and features an epic performance from our protagonist, Skar de Line dressed in black.
Cementing the story of breaking free, Skar de Line‘s eyes are caught by a vision of freedom, a sun setting on a world in a colour that he doesn’t yet have, and pushes him to fulfill his wish to climb out of this cycle that holds him back. We love the CGI details, the build to freedom and the final scene.
Skar de Line is a London-based artist, born and raised in Sweden. He is influenced by cinematic soundtracks, hip-hop and electronic metal, although it is clear that he is creating his own universe.
We have added Reset to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and continue to stream the wider discography of Skar de Line including Satisfied and In Charge.
