Setting the tone with bold and immersive piano, Stacey Jackson opens the acoustic version of her song Flipside with conceptual lyricism, as she sings, “If I had a superpower, I’d split myself in two, I’d be invincible, if it were possible…”
The song expands with intricacy and drama from the piano, whilst Stacey delivers an emotive and transcendental performance, singing about boundaries and how she must be there for herself. We are in awe of the luscious harmonies and strings that really dimensionalize the acoustic version.
Flipside is an anthem of empowerment where Stacey pours self-assertion and determination into every syllable, convincing us and, in the process, herself, that she’s got staying power.
The new acoustic version of the song, which was originally electro pop, comes paired with an emotive live music video featuring an epic performance from Stacey, who once collaborated with the iconic Snoop Dogg!
Speaking on the process of creating the song, Stacey says, “The lyrics came to me quite quickly because it’s all about taking risks to become a better you, even when you have so many commitments in life and are being pulled in so many different directions. Stripping it back felt so right and just adds even more clarity to the lyrics which I think resonate with so many people.”
We love the authentic and optimistic way in which Stacey creates, sometimes commenting on the obstacles she has faced in the public eye, but overall empowering people with her vision.
We have added the acoustic version of Flipside to our New Music Spotlight playlist and continue streaming Stacey Jackson‘s wider discography!
