Setting the tone with atmospheric vocals singing “Hey Vivi, are you coming back, cos I don’t see you round here…”, we are already mesmerized by It’s a Wonderful Life, the latest release from Finnish band, Pastis.
With an immersive and robust guitar soundscape, the song expands into a luxurious alternative rock frequency, as the band delivers a bittersweet love story. We are in awe of the instrumentation, and already feel the profound emotion that the rising band from Helsinki wants to create.
Lyrical highlights include the introspective hook “Oh its a wonderful life, you’re looking for love, then you die”, and the vulnerable and emotional “you know that I’ve been so alone, been feeding my soul to the void”.
The band lets us know that the song is inspired by the movie of the same name, It’s a Wonderful Life and also the iconic movie, Pretty Woman. We are hypnotised by the soaring guitars and the passionate vocal delivery and the hairs on our arms are standing on edge as we experience the song.
Pastis are currently working on their second album, which will be released later this year! It is no surprise that the band has garnered radio plays on stations like BBC6 (UK), NDR (GER) and Radio Fritz (GER) as well as getting featured by online outlets such as Europavox, JaJaJa and AlexRainbirdMusic.
We have added It’s a Wonderful Life to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been streaming the band’s wider discography including Oh Jaqueline.
