Setting the tone with rippling synths with vocal details, fusing into an epic riser and expanding into a luscious indie pop frequency, Midnight Village open their new single, Catch A Flight with the emotive lyrics, “You head back to the coast, you take a little piece of me when you go…”
Catch A Flight is the first single from the LA-based band’s debut EP, Save Me A Seat In Your Mind, due out on May 6th, 2022 and were are obsessed.
The song delivers a narrative, with an upbeat vibe, about the often relatable subject of the loneliness of long distance love. A lyrical highlight is the emotional, “it’s not enough, cos I need you close…”, along with the hook, “Catch A Flight in the night, I’ll be there in a minute”.
Catch A Flight is co-written by band members Sean Kolar, Tyler Lyons and Canadian singer-songwriter Lilianna Wilde. We are in awe of the guitar solos moments!
Speaking on the meaning of the song, lead singer Sean Kolar says, “This song is about a long distance relationship from Toronto and Los Angeles and the struggle of being apart from one another and just deciding to hop on a flight to be with them”.
Elaborating on the incoming EP, Midnight Village band member Tyler Lyons confesses, “This music was over three years in the making and I’m just so excited for the world to hear the art that we have created. The music was such a therapeutic outlet to the incredibly stressful day jobs that the both of us were in. Our time together in the studio was a way of stepping outside of that world and creating our own world through the creative process.”
It is no surprise that Midnight Village have growing live career and have already headlined venues including The Viper Room, The Mint & El Cid in Los Angeles, CA as well as Alley Taps and Cabana Taps in Nashville, TN.
We have added Catch A Flight to our New Music Spotlight feature and have been immersing ourselves in the band’s wider discography including Backstreets and I Can’t Keep Living This Way.
