We recently featured Chris Caulfield for his super multi-dimensional and emotive masterpiece, Feelings, so we were thrilled to hear that he had teamed up with Grammy-Nominated EDM producer, StoneBridge on an epic remix of the song.
For context, the rising artist described Feelings as “a smooth summer drive turned multi-car explosive wreck, just the feeling, the vibe, and it relates to how the song explores the concept of going numb when every pressure is crashing down.”
The StoneBridge Extended Indie Anthem Remix opens with a pulsating, danceable and polished synthscape, which already has us mesmerized before Chris sings the introspective lyrics:
“Abra Cadaver
Cold within
There’s a calm in my mind
Deep inside
That
I can’t feel”.
Chris’ delivery is equally emotive and textured, but futuristic, fused with the immersive new production, in contrast to the more minimalist original version. The remix is high octane and we love the instrumental sections, where Chris’s voice is sampled as he sings, “I’m tripping out…”
The remix features an ethereal breakdown whilst Chris delivers the emotive lyrics, “Alone; locked in tidal waves, I’m weightless, I’m floatin’ but still I sink, I’m fuckin’ just sick of just feeling strange…” The remix uses Chris’ vocals to rebuild the track and takes us back into a fiery finale. Needless to say, we are obsessed.
Make sure you read our first article about Chris Caulfield, which touches more on his background and influences. He cites a variety of inspirations including David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Queen, Eminem and more, but it is clear that Chris Caulfield is creating a universe of his own.
We have added the StoneBridge Extended Indie Anthem Remix to our New Music Spotlight and continue streaming the original and Chris’ wider discography including his recent single Stockholm Syndrome.
