Setting the tone with an enigmatic and textured rising synth, Desperate Electric open their latest single, Stop Making Noise with atmosphere and intrigue.
As the song expands, we experience percussive clicks and luxurious harmonies as vocalist Kayti Korte sings intricately with nuanced and detailed flow, cohesively fused into the production of her counterpart Ben Morris.
Stop Making Noise evolves into a pulsing and anthemic alternative pop frequency, and we are obsessed.
Speaking on the track, Kayti Korte says, “Stop Making Noise is a journey. We love a diverse array of music, and when I was writing this song, I wanted it to really exemplify all the parts of me, or at least try.”
“Jazzy, lush vocal layers, crazy chord progressions, and fun, funky riffs. Equal parts pop, funk, soul, with bits of rock and whatever else you can think of. I hope you enjoy the journey”, continues Kayti as she defines the broad sound of the composition.
The result is a genre expansive experience with soulful R&B vocals exploring themes of womanhood, regaining power and the process of self-realization.
The instrumental segments are bold and vibrant, and Ben Morris‘ synth-work really shines through on the track. Fans of Remi Wolf, Frank Ocean, The Dip, Parcels, Blu Detiger and Lawrence will be able to connect with Desperate Electric, but it is clear that the duo are creating a universe of their own.
We have added the brilliant and immersive Stop Making Noise to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring the wider discography of Desperate Electric, including Still Not Giving You Up and Vacation.
