Setting the tone with an immersive dance-pop meets R&B textured canvas, Jordan Bakewell opens his latest single, Freaky with the assertive and inviting lyrics, “Cos Imma get Freaky on you all night, so come and get Freaky with me tonight…”
The song expands into a commercial pop frequency with Jordan’s intricate delivery and sultry vocal tones, as he sings about his muse and intimate plans for the night.
Speaking on his intentions for the song, Jordan says, “Freaky should take you back to that early 2000s R&B sound that you don’t hear very often at all now.”
The rising artist from Leicestershire in the UK adds with reference to his unique position in the industry, “I feel the track is something different that is out there at the moment, but it still has that familiar sound of commercial and R&B that everyone wants to hear.”
Jordan is currently touring the UK with his boyband tribute show, and cites Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Usher and Justin Timberlake as his influences, although it is clear that he is creating a path of his own.
Elaborating on his sound, he says, “Bruno Mars is a great example on how the old school sounds will never die or age. That is what I am aiming for in my music.”
Freaky comes with a cinematic visual that sees Jordan perform the song with choreography and dancers in various scenes, cementing his iconography as an artist.
We have added Freaky to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been streaming Jordan Bakewell‘s wider discography including Get Funky and No Sleep ’til the Morning.
