Immersing us with rippling synths, percussive details and textured siren sounds, before expanding into an bolder and more cerebral dimension, GrayBeat opens their latest single Levitron with cosmic vocals singing “Levitation for me now…”, in a mantra-esque, positive affirmation format that has us hypnotized.
The soundscape is multi-dimensional and divergent with intricate detailing that has us flowing in synch with GrayBeat. A bright synth appears with a unique high melody, before the song flows into a more syncopated and dystopian state before organic instrumentation carries us through.
Renowned saxophonist, and Minnesota native, Wayne Sayres (Rolling Stoners, Well Trained Monkey), is featured on the unique and playful production. Speaking on his collaborator, GrayBeat says, “[Wayne] drives the song home with a cathartic sax solo performance.”
GrayBeat is born from his diverse background in Electronica, Rock, Jazz, Hip-Hop and African music, but it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own.
Expanding on the detail of the track, GrayBeat says, “Sonically, there’s just so much happening with this song, that you can’t take it all in on the first run-through. It’s one of those exciting trips you’ll want to take again and again, and again.”
We have added Levitron to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring GrayBeat‘s wider discography including Paper Shoes and Sad Song.
